Millions of years ago, the Coastal Plain of South Carolina was covered by a shallow sea home to prehistoric sharks. Many still around to this day. With sharks losing teeth almost every meal and the advances and retreat of the sea level, we are left with geologic layers preserving those marine remains. Through excavations, these fossils such as megalodon teeth may be exposed once again allowing us to discover and appreciate them.
