Millions of years ago, the Coastal Plain of South Carolina was covered by a shallow sea home to prehistoric sharks---many still around to this day. When you take into account sharks losing teeth every meal, as well as the number of times the ocean has came and went over the Lowcountry, we are left with numerous geologic layers preserving those marine remains. Through excavations, these fossilized remains, like Megalodon teeth, may be exposed once again. Allowing us to discover and appreciate them.
